Woodman’s is the best grocery store to shop for keto items in Wisconsin. Hands down! They have your basic keto foods from meats to produce. Yet, they also have so much more.
Everything listed below is keto friendly at Woodman’s.
They have all the baking supplies you need to make your favorite dessert. If you don’t want to make cookies, cakes, or pancakes from scratch, they have these in mixes too.
If baked goods are not your things, Woodman’s also has great keto snack options and animal fats, such as tallow from Epic.
It seems like they are always getting a new keto product in the store. You can also request to have certain items too, if you don’t find something that you want. I remember doing this for Rebel ice cream. They now have 2 keto ice cream companies stocked.
Below is a list of what to buy for keto products that Woodman’s carries other than the basic whole foods that all grocery stores carry. Use the green links below to help get to the main category header right away, as a way to help you not scroll. 🙂
Sometimes you just want an easy breakfast that’s not eggs and bacon. Am I right? Well, Woodman’s is here for you. Thanks to Birch Benders, there are your classic hot carby breakfast meals. Then as of 2020, we can now get granola and cereal here! There are some good things about 2020. haha
- Birch Benders
- Pancake Mix
- Frozen Waffles
- Muffin in a Cup
- Catalina Crunch Cereal
- Sola Granola
Looking for a good keto bread can sometimes be tricky and at one point, you had to make it at home. Below are some keto-friendly bread, wraps, and noodle substitutes you can find at Woodman’s. If you are looking for banana bread though, you’ll have to make that at home. Yet, I’ve got you covered with this recipe on my site for it.
- Sliced bread
- Natural Oven. Keto Friendly White Bread.
- Base Culture Keto Bread
- Outer Aisle: Cauliflower sandwich thins
- Egg Life Wraps
- Palmini Linguine
- Miracle Noodles
- NUCO Coconut Wraps
- Egg Thins with egg and cauliflower
Having easy go-to frozen meals is amazing. Woodman’s carries two main brands for this; Real Good Foods and Primal Kitchen.
Primal Kitchen recently created low carb freezer meals. Some of the meals are higher than others for their carb count. So make sure to check out the nutrition label.
Real Good Foods has always been a good stand by for me if I want an easy meal. Their items found at this grocery store are breakfast sandwiches, enchiladas, pizza, and entree bowls.
Other Frozen Items
- Pizza from Quest
- Waffles from Birch Benders
- Riced cauliflower and broccoli
If you have never been in a Woodman’s, you are in for a treat if you love cheese. The cheese selection is HUGE. When eating keto, finding a yogurt or even coffee creamer can be more difficult. Yet this store has us covered!
There are currently two yogurt brands you can find. Two Good and Ratio Foods are your go-to brand options.
Two Good is from the Dannon company which came out with this yogurt in grocery stores nationwide in February 2019. Their yogurt has 3 total carbs with 2 carbs from sugar. Each serving is 5.3 ounces for their cups.
Ratio Foods’ yogurt has 2 total carbs with 1 carb from sugar. These recently came out near the end of summer in 2020.
Zevia probably the drink I purchase the most here along with Vanilla Macadamia Milk. Zevia is a soda replacement that uses stevia as the sugar. They have classic flavors such as cola and cream soda. Recently they have a few kid’s line flavors such as fruit punch and fizzy apple. There are also energy drinks and mixers for alcoholic drinks from this company.
Bone broth is popular in the keto space and Woodman’s has at least four brands to choose from. I have listed them below.
- Koia Protein Keto Drinks
- Keto Zone Drink: (Meal replacement shake.)
- Unsweetened Nut Milks
- Bone Broth: Lono Life, Kiss My keto, Epic, Kettle and Fire (They also have their soups here.)
Sugar-Free Sauces and Syrups
The brands I have listed below are all great if you like adding some extra flavor to your keto meals. As always check the nutrition labels as some of these companies also have non-keto versions.
- G Hughes (BBQ sauces, dipping sauces, and marinades)
- Primal Kitchen
- Rao’s Pasta Sauces
- Good Good Natural Sweetness has keto jams
- Torani Sugar-Free Syrups (These are great for coffee)
- Lakanto sugar-free maple syrup and chocolate syrup
I often use just heavy cream or butter for my coffee cream. However, there are other options you can do.
If you can’t tolerate dairy, Woodman has Nut Pods which is unsweetened creamer from nut milks.
If dairy is not an issue, check out the company named Kitu Super Coffee. This company makes ready to drink coffee, but they also have 3 flavors of creamer you can add to your own coffee. The flavors are Hazelnut, Vanilla, and Original. Crazy enough, the original is my favorite.
Keto snacks are always great to have on hand and being able to try new things is always fun. With keto becoming more popular, it feels like something new is always popping up at Woodman’s.
- Quest: Chips, bars, cookies, shakes, protein powder
- Meat/Beef Sticks
- Nick’s Sticks
- Old Wisconsin
- Pork Rinds
- Seaweed Snacks as a chip replacement
- Cracker Cheeses
- Moon Cheese
- Parm Crisps
- Just the Cheese
- Granola Bars
- Munk Pack
- Dang Bars
- Nut Butters
- Super Fat
- Noosh (Premade mini cake treats.)
- Slim Keto Fat Bombs
These are the companies I have seen at Woodman’s that carry chocolate bars/chips or chocolate candy.
You may notice that I did not include the brand, Russel Stovers. This company uses maltitol in its ingredients and not only may this make you run to the bathroom, lol, but this sugar substitute will still increase your blood sugars.
So when you are looking for other possible keto candies, make sure this ingredient is not included.
- Lilly’s: bars, chocolate peanut butter cups
- Kiss My Keto
- Lakanto Chocolate Bars
It wasn’t unitl a few years ago that you needed to make your own keto ice cream at home. Now there are companies producing it and you can easily get it at the store. I have listed the companies that Woodman’s carries below for ice cream.
- Keto Pint
- Enlighted: Keto Line
- Halo Top: Keto Line
Of course, you may not get all of your favorite flavors at the store in keto form, like Blue Moon. If you are like me though and loved the Blue Moon flavor, I’ve got the recipe on my site. 😉
When eating a keto diet, baked goods are not always easy to find at grocery stores. Or if you do find what you are looking for, it may not be exactly what you want due to ingredient reasons. Thus, you still have to do some of your own baking.
Woodman’s has nearly everything that you would need to make a keto baked good from online recipes. I have listed a few common items that can be found here. Let me know if I missed any that you use.
It’s also really nice when you can just buy a mix at the store, so I included those below that you can get at this grocery store.
- Sugar Replacements
- Monk Fruit
- Almond Flour
- Coconut Flour
- Guar Gum
- Cacao Butter
- Unsweetened Coconut Flakes
- Lilly’s Chocolate Chips
- More than just vanilla and almond extracts
When shopping for stevia, be careful with Stevia In the Raw. When you turn the box to look at the ingredients you will see the first ingredient to be dextrose. In simple terms, dextrose is another type of sugar that raizes your blood sugar quickly.
Woodman’s has a few brands that carry baking mixes. The brands that I’ve seen here are Swerve, Keto and Co, Lakanto, and Berch Benders. You can find these all near each other in the Natural Foods area near the Frozen section.
- Sugar Cookies
- Flat Bread
- Blueberry Muffins
- Cocoa Mix for Hot Chocolate
I understand that grocery stores may have these products, yet I wanted to point out some products here as the carb counts are 2 carbs or less for each serving. Getting the carbs low in these types are products is generally not normal for other companies. You can also see that I love hot dogs. haha
- Nathan’s hot dogs
- Old Wisconsin hot dogs
- Applegate hot dogs
- Jone’s Breakfast Sausages
- Randolph Mild Italian Sausage
Fats and Oils
Woodman’s has a great collection of pure fats and oils to choose from. You can find these items in the baking aisle and the Natural Foods section. Some of the popular keto items that they have are coconut oil (virgin and nonvirgin), ghee (from Organic Valley and 4th & Heart), olive oil, avocado oil, and MCT oil.
They also have animal fats such as tallow and duck fat from Epic.
On of my favorite oils to buy is the avocado oil spray from Chosen Foods. Another fun oil purchase is the virgin macadamia oil that’s been cold pressed.
Brands that I Love
Below are just a few companies that I love to buy from at Woodman’s.
- Lakanto (baking/sweets)
- Jones Natural sausages (meat)
- Applegate (meat)
- Dupont Cheese
What to Avoid
Everybody does keto differently and that’s perfectly okay, yet, I would steer caution from a few items. Sweets that contain maltitol, dextrose, and IMO fibers are something I would avoid. These will cause your blood sugars to go up and that’s something we try to avoid on the ketogenic diet.
Keto Food List
If you are looking for a keto food list to take grocery shopping with you, I have created one already for you. There’s no fancy extras, but the basic whole foods that you can have on keto are on here. Get the printable keto grocery list here.
Woodman’s is a great store to shop at if you are looking for keto products. I would defentily call Woodman’s a keto grocery store. They have so much more than your typical grocery store.
Check out the Woodman’s’ site to see the current prices of these grocery items. Also use their website to double check that your store does carry them. I live in Green Bay, WI and you may even have something at your location that I can’t get.
I’m sure that I have missed some of your favorites. Let me know in the comments below that I have missed that others should look out for.
I also run Keto in Wisconsin Facebook group. Click on the green link to check it out. 🙂
