The 8 keto whipped creams listed below can be considered clean or dirty keto. Some of them may have ideal ingredients for health and some may not. Everyone does keto differently, and I wanted to have all options listed. Choose the option that is best for you.
The chart below show the 6 brands of whips creams that are avaible for purchase.
Whipped Cream | Carbs per 2 Tablespoons |
---|---|
Land O Lakes Sugar-Free | 0 grams |
Great Value Sugar-Free | 0 grams |
Reddi-Wip Original | 1 gram |
Sugar-Free Cool Whip | 3 grams |
Publix Whipped Heavy Cream, Sweetened | 1 gram |
Dairy Pure Whipped Topping, Original | 1 gram |
1. Land O Lakes Sugar-Free Whipped Heavy Cream
This is my top choice in picking up a keto-friendly whip cream from a store. For 2 tablespoons (6g) there are 0 carbs.
The first ingredient is heavy cream, then nonfat milk with everything else being less than 1% of the list.
The sweetener that they use is sucralose.
2. Great Value Sugar-Free Whipped Heavy Cream (from Wal-Mart)
My second choice of can whipped cream would be this one from Wal-Mart. It has the same ingredients and nutrition as the land O Lakes sugar-free one.
There will be 0 carbs for 2 tablespoons (6g) with the sweetener being used is sucralose.
Personaly don't shop at Wal-Mart often, so I have not purchased this brand.
3. Reddi-Wip Original Whipped Dairy Cream Topping
For every 2 tablespoons (5g) there is 1g of carbs and less than 1 gram of sugar.
The first 5 ingredients are cream, water, sugar, corn syrup, and nonfat milk. This would be more of a dirty keto option due to it having sugar and corn syrup in it.
If you can keep your serving size to 2 tablespoons, this whipped cream isn't that bad for the number of carbs you are getting.
4. Sugar-Free Cool Whip Whipped Topping
For every 2 tablespoons (9g) there are 3g carbs and 0 grams of sugar. If you keep your serving at 2 tablespoons 3 grams of carbs will keep you in ketosis still.
However, the ingredients make it a dirty keto option with the first ones listed as water, corn syrup, hydrogenated vegetable oil (coconut and palm kernel oils).
5. Publix Heavy Whipped Cream, Sweetened
For 2 tablespoons (6g) there is 1 gram of carbs with 1 gram of sugar. The first 3 ingredients are cleaner than Cool Whips Topping. The first few ingredients are cream, skim milk, and sugar.
If I wasn't keto, I would easily pick up this brand of canned heavy cream. Sugar just makes it less ideal for a keto diet. The main ingredients are everyday items that you can purchase at the store.
However, if you can keep your serving size low enough, your total carbs will be just fine.
6. Dairy Pure Whipped Topping, Original
For every 2 tablespoons (5g) there is 1 gram of carbs with 1 gram of sugar as well.
This is almost like the Publix brand of whipped cream, but the ingredients have corn syrup. The first 5 ingredients in this brand are cream, water, sugar, corn syrup, and nonfat milk.
If you stay within the serving size or similar this would be an option for you are not worried about the ingredients.
7. Homemade Keto Whipped Cream
The best-whipped cream that is keto-friendly are those made at home. Follow the steps below to make a stable whip cream below. If you don't have gelatin or xanthan gum, that's okay. It's there to help keep the cream more stable.
Ingredients
- 1/3 Cup Heavy Cream
- 1 Tsp Vanilla Extract
- Sweetener to Taste (liquid stevia or monk fruit works best)
- 1/2 Tbs Gelatin or 1/8 tsp Xanthan Gum (This helps to keep the cream stabilized.)
Directions
- Combine all the ingredients together to form stiff peaks.
- Refrigerate.
- The cream will last up to 5-7 days or until the cream would have expired once opened.
8. Dairy-Free Keto Whipped Cream
This dairy-free whipped cream recipe is the same as above but instead of heavy cream, you use canned coconut milk.
This recipe and the one above are from Colourful Keto With Dori.
Ingredients
- 1/3 Cup Canned Coconut Milk (mix up can if needed)
- 1 Tsp Vanilla Extract
- Sweetener to Taste (liquid stevia or monk fruit works best)
- 1/2 Tbs Gelatin or 1/8 tsp Xanthan Gum (This helps to keep the cream stabilized.)
Directions
- Combine all the ingredients together to form stiff peaks.
- Refrigerate.
- The cream will last up to 5-7 days or until the milk would have expired once opened.

Questions About Keto & Whip Cream
Will Cool Whip kick you out of ketosis?
As a general rule, Cool Whip will not kick you out of ketosis. For 2 tablespoons (9 grams) there are 3 total carbs in Cool Whip (2 from sugar). 3 carbs will not hurt you.
Since Cool Whip won't kick you out of ketosis, Cool Whip is keto-friendly if you are looking at total carbs.
However, when we are looking at total health and sugar in general, Cool Whip isn't great for anyone. A few of the first ingredients in there are corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup, and hydrogenated vegetable oil, which are not healthy.
When you hydrogenate oil you create trans fats, which are bad (source). High fructose corn syrup has also been associated with many diseases such as heart disease and insulin resistance (source).
If you are looking for a sugar-free Cool Whip, check out this recipe from Keto in Pearls.
Does sugar-free whipped cream have carbs?
As a general rule sugar-free whipped cream does NOT have carbs. The top 2 brands listed above, Land O Lakes and Great Value have zero carbs in 2 tablespoons of their sugar-free whip cream.
If you get sugar free Cool Whip there are carbs. For every 2 tablespoons there are 3 grams of total carbs.
